BIGS Sponsors Alpha Chi Omega's Philanthropy Week

Updated: Jan 8, 2020

Alpha Chi's "Freedom Fling" sets new fundraising goals for the chapter.

With domestic violence and sexual assault being such a prominent issue in today's society it was extremely important to both Alpha Chi and BIGS to have a successful week in support of the Julien Center.

Achieving New Goals

"We have tried to reach $11k in one week to run the shelter for an entire day in past years so being able to surpass that goal by over a thousand dollars was incredible" - Brooke Blevins, AXO Philanthropy Chair.

AXO's Freedom Fling was a week long event featuring new ways to raise money each day. The surrounding community was able to get involved with givebacks featuring local restaurants such as 317 burger. There also was an obstacle course race held on the mall of Butler university's campus. Members of various organizations on campus created teams and paid a small fee to race through the course in hopes of winning points to add to their teams total for the week. Lip syncs ended the week on a high note as the on campus fraternities created 8 minute long dance routines and nominated a a brother to compete in the "king" competition.

The Julien Center

The Julien Center is the largest organization supporting victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other life crises in Indiana. They serve over 6,000 survivors each year and empower them to recover and build a life for themselves and their families absent of abuse. Alpha Chi has been working with the Julien Center for many years and is their main philanthropic cause.

What We Raised

Throughout the events that took place this entire week, Freedom Fling collected $12,250 for the Julien Center.
